If you are one of those that throw away your fish frame (that skeleton and flesh cut off to get your fish fillets), then stop. Do you leave it for the fishmongers? Pack your bones in another bag, take it home and make use of it in these ways.
Make a delicious cooking stock – Wash and put the bones in a pot of water, chop and add onions, garlic, salt, seasoning cubes and other seasoning of your choice. Boil for about 15-20 minutes and remove from fire. Using a sieve, strain the stock from the bones and you have your delicious stock to use for soups, stews, rice, pasta etc.
Homemade Fish Stock for making baby food – Use same method above and omit the salt and seasoning cubes. You can also add some chopped carrots, spring onions and scent leaves to give it more flavour. It is not advisable to include salt and artificial sweeteners that contain same in meals for babies below one year.
Get flaked fish out of it – Put on your ‘patience garment’ first before you start this. Take the cooked fish bones and using your fingers, carefully take out the flesh from the bones. Make sure you pick out all the little bones to avoid anyone choking on them. You have your fish flakes to add to your Moimoi, Omelette, and other food dishes.

Hi Tosin, you omit the salt when cooking it for baby.
Thanks for this informations,I was bothered about my six months baby when I came across it,I believe it will change my baby stature…….
I even add it to my pepper for grinding to make stew, I add it to bean for either moimoi or akara, I add it to my pepper for grinding for yam porridge, etc.
